Holding Nothing Back

Giving God our first and best communicates that he deserves priority over everything else vying for our hearts. He doesn’t need anything from us, but because he is worthy of our full devotion, we don’t merely give what’s left over. Giving before we know there will be enough requires trust. Obeying when that trust feels costly is an act of surrender. Fear tells us to wait until it feels safe; faith gives first because God can be trusted. Giving our first and best isn’t a formula for earning God’s favor; it’s the natural response of a heart that trusts him more than it fears the cost.
